Reading is open to everyone. Practice and tests need an account: an email address is all it takes, and there is no password (we email you a code to sign in).

  • Read

40 units across General, Airframe and Powerplant, each with an explanation of why the work is done the way it is, the procedures step by step, and where to look things up.

  • Study, Drill, Test

6,078 questions, in three steps per unit: Study, every element one by one, with the answer and why after each question; Drill, right or wrong only, at pace; the Test, timed, with the answers at the end, open at 90% in Drill.

  • Mock FAA exams

General, Airframe and Powerplant, each as the FAA sets its written test: the same number of questions, 2 hours, and 70% to pass, drawn from every unit of the section.

How mastery works

  1. Twenty questions, 90%, twice in a row. Each test draws questions you have not just seen, so a pass means you know the unit, not the questions.
  2. Timed at the FAA's pace. Two minutes a question: 40 minutes for a unit's test. A failed test starts a new run, and nothing else is lost.
  3. It stays honest. Mastery holds for 24 months, and what you miss comes back for review just before you would forget it.

What we keep

Your account holds your email address, to sign you in, and your answers, so you can see your progress. No password. If you choose to verify your identity so your mock FAA exams are saved, we also keep your legal name, date of birth and ID expiry date; the ID images and face data stay with our verification service (biometric data policy). The curriculum itself is free to share under CC BY-SA 4.0.
