Chapter and section verified against FAA-H-8083-30B, 2023 edition, on 28 August 2026. Page numbers are deliberately not cited: they move between printings, and a citation that rots silently is worse than a coarser one that stays true. Checked by our handbook citation check against our index of the handbook's chapters and sections.

This unit is two subjects the ACS has merged (GEN-G Concepts §2), and the table follows that split.

Risk

R1–R8 cover health, ventilation, material and process identification, SDS-directed PPE, flammable chemicals, disposal of chemicals and waste, PPE with paints and solvents, and application of finishing materials. GEN-G Concepts §6.

The operative sources

  • The safety data sheet for every product in stock. R4 names it, and it governs PPE, handling, storage and spill response (the equipment and materials specification §B4).
  • The aircraft manufacturer's approved paint system and processes — a finish is approved data, not a preference.
  • 14 CFR part 45 for registration marking size, location and legibility.
