2,678 terms. Where the regulation defines a term (14 CFR 1.1 and 1.2, 280 of them), its definition is quoted word for word, and it governs. The FAA handbooks' definitions follow as guidance, each with the page of the handbook that prints it.

100-hour inspection

An inspection identical in scope to an annual inspection. Conducted every 100 hours of flight on aircraft of under 12,500 pounds that are used to carry passengers for hire.
